There’s advice out there on how to be supportive to a friend or a lover who is struggling with the desire to die by suicide. Problem is, these are often written by people who are professionals who may or may not have ever experienced those feelings themselves and some of their advice can be actively harmful. I hope you never have to use it but if you do, I hope it’s useful.
